REACH AND REACH IMPLEMENTATION PROJECTS ‘RIPs’
Cambrensis Ltd Director William Wilson participated in a 2 day REACH Alliance conference in Brussels on 30-31 May 2006 to consider the latest progress on the REACH Implementation Projects or ‘RIPs’ under the EU’s REACH Chemicals Regulation, which is expected to come into force in Spring 2007.
Entry into force of REACH in Spring 2007 would introduce new duties for many industrial operations. Manufacturers, importers and downstream users of ‘substances’, ‘preparations’ and ‘substances in articles’ will become responsible for their Registration, Evaluation by the new European Chemicals Agency, and for substances of concern, Authorisation.
Cambrensis has held two seminars to consider the impact of REACH on business, and Cambrensis personnel have been heavily involved in the intensive negotiations on this biggest revision of EU Chemicals legislation for 30 years.
The RIPs, some completed, some under way and some due to start, will be critical to the way the EU REACH Regulation is interpreted.
