CAMBRENSIS RENEWABLES AND HYDROGEN CONTACT GROUP
2005 WORK PROGRAMME
Cambrensis Ltd is delighted to announce the work programme for 2005 of its Renewables and Hydrogen Contact Group. It is our most ambitious to date. The Group, which draws on the experience and talents of senior people from government, science, academia and industry, will have new opportunities to become informed about and debate 'just over the horizon' issues in energy policy.
These meetings will all take place in the Queen's Room, Middle Temple Hall, Middle Temple, London EC4. Details of speakers and contributors will be posted on our website – www.cambrensis.org – in due course.
- DOES THE UK HAVE AN ENERGY POLICY?
Friday 24th June 2005, 10.00 am – 4.00pm, Middle Temple Hall, London EC4
June 2005 seems a good point in the electoral cycle to ask the question. This one-day seminar will take a look at some of the key areas:
- Nuclear – will there be new build?
- Coal – can it be clean?
- Oil and Gas – what are the consequences of becoming a net importer?
- Renewables – the full picture.
- Hydrogen – what are we waiting for?
- New approaches
- ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT IN CHINA, INDIA AND BRAZIL
Thursday 29th September 2005, 10.00am – 4.00 pm, Middle Temple Hall, London EC4
Why do we debate energy and environmental policies in Europe and America without reference to the way in which these gigantic new economies are dealing with these issues?
The rates of growth of the economies of countries such as China, India and Brazil will see them overtake the economies of many European countries in the near term. Their energy and environmental policies will be key to the success or failure of many initiatives to tackle climate change and to determine energy policy. How are they going to be engaged with the debates in the rest of the world?
Cambrensis decided not to wait for everyone else to address these issues but to investigate them itself at this one day seminar of the Renewables and Hydrogen Group.
