CAMBRENSIS RELEASES PRESENTATION ON HYDROGEN SAFETY AND THE HINDENBURG DISASTER - 10 July 2005

Cambrensis Director Professor David Slater CB and Professor Phil Bowen of Cardiff University gave an important presentation 'Hydrogen Safety: Reality or Perception?' at the Cambrensis seminar 'Hydrogen Economy: Risk, Safety and Public Perception' held at the Middle Temple, London EC4 in December 2004.

The emerging hydrogen industry has "exonerated" hydrogen from any part in the Hindenburg airship disaster, claiming that new evidence implicates the treated coating of the airship. Slater and Bowen as combustion chemists took a detailed and critical look at the claims, and argued that hydrogen would certainly have contributed to the explosion and fire which took place. Their paper is an important reminder of the dangers of an industry coming to believe its own propaganda, and a plea to give the real risks inherenet in hydrogen use and production proper and responsible consideration.

In view of the widespread interest in these findings, Cambrensis Ltd is releasing the paper, which will be available online shortly -
