DAVID
SLATER SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROFESSORSHIP AT UMIST
Dr David Slater, a Director
of Cambrensis, has been appointed a Visiting Professor of Engineering
Design for Sustainable Development at UMIST (University of Manchester
Institute of Science and Technology).
He will be considering how
engineering principles can be applied to design products and systems
that meet the needs of a sustainable way of life. The new Appointment
is funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering. The RAE scheme allows
a number of professors in UK universities to contribute to the development
of teaching material on sustainable development.
The Department of Chemical
Engineering at UMIST comments –
“The appointment of
David as Visiting Professor is a very natural complement to the activities
of the Environmental Technology Centre. Professor Slater will be working
closely with Professor Richard Griffiths, Director of the Environmental
Technology Centre, and Professor Paul Sharratt, whose interests focus
strongly on issues of sustainability.”.
