REACH AND SPECIAL PREPARATIONS

On October 10 and 11 2006, Cambrensis Director Dr David Slater chaired a two day workshop in Brussels to consider the issue of the EU REACH Regulation and Special Preparations. With high level participation by the European Commission, industry and trade associations, the workshop considered the treatment of Special Preparations, including metal alloys, rubber, glass, ceramics, concrete and cement – under the REACH Regulations and the REACH Implementation Projects or RIPs.

The workshop was held to take forward the commitment in the present text of the Recitals for the European Commission, with Member States and other stakeholders, to develop guidance on Special Preparations, and to link that to the work being undertaken on the REACH Implementation Projects or ‘RIPs’. The Workshop achieved major progress towards those ends.
