REACH REMINDER –
ONE MONTH TO PRE-REGISTRATION!
The EU REACH Chemicals Regulation 1907/2006 entered into force on 1 June 2007. With very limited exceptions, it will require –
Registration of substances, on their own, in preparations or in articles;
Evaluation of registration dossiers;
Authorisation for 'Substances of Very High Concern';
Restrictions on the marketing and use of certain substances and preparations.
If registration is required, substances which have not been registered cannot be placed on the EU market.
Manufacturers, Importers and Downstream Users have ‘producer responsibility’ under REACH for the substances they place on the EU market, and for ensuring that they do not adversely affect human health or the environment.
To get the benefit of a phase-in timetable for registration of substances, Pre-registration of substances will take place between 1 June 2008 and 1 December 2008.
