Cambrensis Directors
David Slater CB, BSc, PhD, CChem, CEng, FRSC, FIChemE (Chairman)
David has a track record of significant achievement in the commercial and public sectors. He taught at Imperial College in the 1970s, and then founded the Risk Management consultancy Technica Limited., following his experience leading the investigation into the Flixborough Disaster. Technica pioneered the application of QRA techniques worldwide (UK, US, Australia, Far East).
Subsequent to Technica being acquired (then some 100 people and a £20 million turnover worldwide) by the Norwegian Certification Society (DNV), he became a professional regulator as Chief Inspector of Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Pollution and subsequently Director at the Environment Agency.
In the 5 years 1991-6, David’s teams cut the UK Pollution Inventory by 50%. He was seconded to DGXI to work on policy for the new European Directives on PPC and REACH. His final Government role was to help oversee the restructuring of the Radioactive Waste Disposal organisations as the independent chair of NIREX CLG. His subsequent career has been involved in the start-up and establishment of companies addressing Environmental and Risk issues. (OXERA, Acona, Cambrensis, RLtec, Willworth and Intradependency ltd.). He is now fully involved in the innovation think tank – Inqlab, bringing new ideas, technologies and products to market.
Alan Fletcher, MA DPhil MRSC (Managing Director)
A chemist by training, Alan is an experienced environmental management professional with a strong technical background (including due diligence auditing; resource efficiency; carbon management; EMS development; waste management; assessment and management of brown field land) and broad market sector experience (industrial: nuclear; oil and gas; renewables; water industry; other advisors including legal; EU; UK central and local government; EBRD and other banks) allied to a proven track record as a business builder, leader and director/ manager.
He has thirty five years experience in the UK private and public sectors in strategic and operational consultancy roles involving UK and overseas markets (including Western and Central Europe; FSU and Central America). As an experienced project director and business developer, he has successfully led companies in widely varying organisational cultures and developmental states.

Our Associates come from a variety of backgrounds (including consultancy, Government and academia).
